Integrity in politics shouldn't be optional

We deserve politicians who act with honesty, transparency and integrity – and who put our communities before political interests.

Integrity is the foundation of trust in our democracy. It means telling the truth, being accountable for decisions, standing by your principles and acting in the public interest.

Community independent MP Dr Helen Haines, Senator David Pocock and other independents have shown what a commitment to integrity in politics can look like - championing stronger accountability in Canberra, working across political divides and putting community at the centre.

At Voices of Fisher, we believe integrity should be the standard for every elected representative, regardless of political party or background.

It's time to put integrity at the heart of Australian politics.

Add your name to the petition and call for stronger integrity, transparency and accountability in Canberra.

Petition: Put integrity at the heart of Australian politics

To all Federal Parliamentarians,

Integrity is essential to a healthy democracy. Australians deserve elected representatives who act honestly, make decisions transparently and put the public interest and their communities front and centre.

We call on all federal parliamentarians to uphold the highest standards of integrity by:

  • Leading by example. Treating others with respect, working constructively across political differences and maintaining high ethical standards.

  • Strengthen our anti-corruption watchdog. Make sure the National Anti-Corruption Commission is independent, effective and able to hold public hearings without unnecessary restrictions.

  • Protect people who speak up. Strengthen whistleblower protections and establish an independent authority to support people who expose wrongdoing in the public interest.

  • Make political influence transparent. Shine a light on lobbying, political donations and who has access to decision-makers. Introduce stronger donation limits and timely disclosure so Australians know who's funding our politics.

  • Put truth and transparency first. Introduce truth in political advertising laws, protect independent public interest journalism and ensure Australians can access reliable information about the decisions affecting their lives.

  • Make sure public money is spent fairly. End pork barrelling by making government grants transparent, merit-based and subject to independent oversight — so funding goes where it's needed, not where it wins political points.
