That's a wrap!
We have wound up our Kitchen Table Conversations (KTC) after engaging with 500 people in the Federal Electorate of Fisher. The results of the KTC's, online survey and other engagement exercises can be found in our report "Fisher Speaks: Community Voices Report"
This report describes what the people of Fisher love about their community, what they want improved and what they want from their political representative.
The report was launched at the Zali Steggall OAM MP event on 18 September 2024. It is being presented for community discussion and provided to the current and any aspiring political representatives, to guide them in their decision-making for the community.
What is a Kitchen Table Conversation?
A Kitchen Table Conversation (KTC) is a simple, relaxed, small group discussion, led by a volunteer facilitator. The concept has been used for centuries to engage people in the kind of open and honest dialogue and has the power to create real change. The conversations usually take place in people’s homes, cafes, parks or anywhere that is comfortable to gather.
The aim is to provide the space and time for participants to have their say and express their thoughts, listen to others and find areas of common ground relating to the experience of living in Fisher. There are a few ground rules, including that everyone is entitled to have a say and be heard in a safe and respectful manner.
It's a small group conversation where you get to meet some locals, have a chat over some refreshments and have some fun!
Thank-you
To all those who hosted or participated in a KTC, a warm thank you. The information gathered has shaped our next steps and highlighted the needs and wants of our community. Thanks for getting involved in YOUR democracy.
